Buying competition gear in Canada is harder than it should be.

Shipping costs are high. Delivery times are unpredictable. Most buying advice assumes you can order whatever you want and have it at your door in two days. That might be true in larger markets, but it is not how things work for a lot of Canadian shooters.

That gap is what led to Match Ready.

I got into IPSC not that long ago, and like most new competitors, once I understood the basics, I started looking for gear. That quickly became its own project.

Shipping costs were inconsistent and hard to predict. For shooters outside major centres, those costs add up fast. Living in the BC Interior, I was not exactly first on the delivery priority list. Or second. Possibly not on the list at all.

The cross-border option was not much better. Ordering from US or European retailers often meant dealing with exchange rates, brokerage fees, and border delays. What should have been a simple gear purchase could easily turn into a two or three week wait, plus extra costs that only showed up at the end. Getting the gear was fine. Getting it here without taking out a small loan was the problem.

Even after sorting out where to buy, the experience was still lacking. Most Canadian retailers carried the same limited mix of products, often with very little guidance on what made one option better than another, or whether it was even the right fit for your division.

For a new competitor, that creates a second problem: information.

Most gear advice is written for the US market. A lot of it assumes easier access to products, different buying conditions, and a level of availability that simply does not exist here. For Canadian practical shooters, especially those just getting started, there has not been enough straightforward guidance on what you actually need, what can wait, and where your money makes the biggest difference early on. You were mostly on your own, armed with a browser and a lot of conflicting forum opinions from 2014.

That is the gap Match Ready is built to fill.

What Match Ready is built to do

Flat rate shipping is $15, and orders over $150 ship free. That is intentional. The point is to make the cost of getting gear to your door predictable, whether you are in Vancouver, Saskatoon, Thunder Bay, or Halifax.

Match Ready is a startup, and inventory reflects where supplier relationships are today. More product lines will be added as those relationships expand.
